Good luck!
So, today I finished uni at 11, hit the gym for an hour, and was left with a whole day to lounge around, something i havnt really had the chance to do since coming back to crewe.
figured it was the best time to mess around with my new Pedal, plus all the recording equipment.
This is a recording of me playing the chord progression from Sounds Like Violences first single, You Give Me Heart Attacks, which you can listen too here…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWNIhPERPyY
I used the Loop function on my Boss ME-70 to add layers and recorded using a USB mixer with 2 channels, 1 with a DI box straight from the pedal, and 1 from a Mic placed next to my practice amp, this was done in 1 take so there are a few errors.
only problems ive had are due to the low wattage of the amp, after 3 or 4 layers of sound it tends to distort a little.
Just recorded this as a test, its a little long but hope you like it, may try to record it again next time i have my equipment set up without distortion.
If the fight was on land, the bear
if the fight was in water, the shark.
however, sharks and bears do not fight, they instead work together with plans of world domination, they just need someone to actually build jurassic park, then the holy trinity will be complete and they will take over.
Getting ready for my second term of Uni and im looking forward to been back in the halls. The first term was hectic from the start really, nearly all my courses had essays in in december so couldnt afford to fall behind, which is how I like it.
Ive met some wonderful people and im looking forward to jumping back in.
Im taking my recording stuff to uni, hopefully can mess around with things and get some nice recordings done.
pretty pointless post really.
My Favourite Converge song. to some its just noise or screaming, but to me its brutal and beautiful at the same time.
Death was just a simple glance across a dim lit room
And those eyes did it
Those three words did it
Those three words killed him
And I surrender to it all
Between you and me, I surrender to you
Forgive me for the sadness
And the bringing of you down
I just needed a lover and I needed a friend
And there you were
Running from forever like all the rest
Three simple words bled me dry
Three simple word bled us dry, bled us dry
I love you
go listen to Converge - Jane Doe. then listen to You Fail Me, Axe to Fall, No Heroes, Petitioning the Empty sky and the rest of their albums.
So, figured I would make this list as a way to start using my blog again that has gone unused since Ive been at university (more on that later)
before I get on to the main list, ive got 1 movie I need to mention before I get on to it, It didnt make it into the top 5, but still deserves a mention.
The “Drag me to hell” award 2010.
Named the “Drag me to hell award”, this is for the movie that was gory, hilarious, and just fun to watch in a packed cinema.
Piranha 3D

“there are thousands of them, and they are pissed!”
It was never going to be an Oscar winner, nor a critics choice, but I loved it. Sure I have a weird obsession with anything like this, but this movie was a lot of fun. 3D to me is still a gimmick, so why not exploit it with tons of gore, tits and childish humour?.
so, on with THE TOP 5
5. THE OTHER GUYS

“Gators bitches best be using jimmies!”
So, most of us grew up watching buddy cop movies, Tango and cash, Turner and Hooch (not the same but yes), 48 Hours, Lethal Weapon ect are films that never fail to bring a smile to my face. Saw this in September with my brother who was going through a bit of a hard time and I think it was perfect for the occasion.
The Other Guys is pretty much a tribute to the 80s buddy cop movies (pretty much like Hot Fuzz was as well), both actors are brilliant in it, the plot is great and its just a really funny movie.
4. American - The Bill Hicks Story.

“Hey buddy we’re Christians and we don’t like what you said..”
“then forgive me!”
Bill Hicks is an icon, I remember walking around listening to his live albums on my CD Walkman in fits of laughter while people walking in the opposite direction wondered if there was something mentally wrong with me. There was something special about Bill, he made the brutal truth funny.
This Documentary is a great insight into the man, the myth and the legend that is Bill Hicks, interviewing his friends and family while telling his story. The way the film is stylised and animated gives it a brilliant charm while never losing how important Bill really was.
3. Shutter Island.

“Which would be worse, to live as a monster, or die as a good man?”
had a hard time with the final 3, ill probably regret the ordering of it but here we go.
This film was just brilliant, Di Caprio has been amazing all year, and is backed up by a great cast. the film was gripping upto its conclusion, and the final moments are haunting.
2. Four Lions

“am I shagging a dog in a ditch barry, or am I a paki rambo!”
Any other year this would have topped the list. The topic of this film is a tough one to talk about for most people, but the name Chris Morris actually gives me comfort that he will do things right. He caused alot of controversy with Brass Eye, mainly people who hadnt seen or understood the show complaining.
This film is equally funny and thought provoking. It should be shown to anyone and everyone, then maybe we would be more aware of the damage we do, branding an entire religion by the actions of a few. Either that or we could all walk around quoting the film and spreading a little joy that way.
Rubber dingy rapids mate.
1. Inception

“You mustn’t be afraid to dream a little bigger darling”
So yeah, this will top most peoples lists, and with good reason, its fucking excellent.
Everything about this film seems perfect, every part is cast just right, the plot is crazy yet simple to grasp, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat till the very final frame, leaving you questioning it as you leave.
————————
Ive got to mention one more movie, its not released over here till next year but I saw it today and had to talk about it.
Probably the top movie of 2011
Black Swan

“I was perfect”
Holy shit was this a good movie. Its been hyped loads, mainly due to the fact that there is a pretty hot lesbian scene between Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, but what this film really is, is a dark twisted film that has to be seen when it hits cinemas, I know ill be going to see it again.
So anyway, people post your own lists. Im going to post another blog or 2 before the year is out, until then so long.
(From firebettman.com)
So yeah, The ongoing NHL/Kovalchuk saga should hopefully end today at 5pm EST (if the league don’t seek out another extension). This whole situation has left alot of Devils fans angry at NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. Rather than go on a huge rant, Im going to sit back and wait for the excuses, knowing it comes from the man on the left side of the bed.
Selling things, from Ice Skates to books about comedians and wrestlers.
Does a band have to be under great stress in their personal lives or on the verge of killing each other to make a truly perfect album?
